The hidden treasures of Lipsi

What visitors most appreciate about Lipsi is the authenticity of the natural landscape, the different approach to vacations and the union with nature. Rental umbrellas, sunbeds and food vendors are forbidden on all beaches on the island. In Lipsi, one will find beaches that cater to all tastes: sandy, pebbly, rocky, shallow or deep, flat or rugged...

Lipsi complex includes 24 small islands and 6 rocky islets. The most notable are: Arefousa, Aspronissia, Makronissi, Kaparonissi, Psomou, Pilavi, Stavri, Lyra, Koutoura, Paploma and Katapodia. Nearby islets worth a visit are Arki and Marathi. The 5 Island Trip from Lipsi is a daily tour to the surrounding islands...

3. Churches, chapels...

The church was named after the eponymous icon showing the Virgin Mary holding Christ Crucified rather than infant in her arms. The church's history goes back to 1600 when five monks of Mount Athos  who came to the island to lead ascetic lives, built the monastery and fortified it, for the fear of pirates...

4. Places worth seeing

The Nikiforio Ecclesiastical-Folklore Museum is located in the main square of the village. Here one can see holy icons from the 16th-17th centuries, church vestments embroidered in golden thread and holy crosses from the 17th century, traditional local costumes, objects of everyday use, coins from various eras and a small archaeological collection...

5. Delights worth tasting

Those who love fish and seafood will find delicacies fresh from the sea, just unloaded from the locals' fishing boats.  You can enjoy them at the tavernas in the port. Order ouzo “with meze” and enjoy  lots of little snacks to accompany your drink. Many dishes - home-style, traditional but also gourmet  await to be tasted...
